Babies, Babies and More Babies

So today I was looking over some of my recent babies and I thought I would talk a little bit about how I started this company.   I ventured out on my own in photography a little over 6 years ago.  I bought a nice Nikon camera and a brand new Mac and thought I was set.  Started a business with a co-worker and we were off!  Little did I know how much actually went into this new venture I started.

After working with the friend for less than 6 months, we decided to split ways and create our own companies.  She ended up getting away from photography completely. So that is how Precious Image Photography began while pregnant with my last child.  So until she was about 2 I didn’t truly become serious about making this work.   She is now almost 5.  Things are going great!

Why babies? Well I worked at the baby hospital in my local area for over 4 years as the Photography Manager.  I learned there that I love working with babies.  I also got plenty of experience with them.  This gave me the safety knowledge and the skills needed.  I also got the experience of working with the new moms and learning how to listen to them and understanding whether this is their first child or fourth, how different they can be.

How adorable is a sleeping baby?

So I learned and absorbed as much as I could.  I would watch videos, attend workshops, and learn from anyone willing to teach me.  I have come so far and I love that the learning will never end!  My skills are always improving and my love for this deepens.  Photography is such an amazing gift to have and share!

Tina Family/Baby Session

I will be photographing Tina’s sisters wedding this fall.  I got a chance to meet her family and do some great shots with them.  Her little chunky monkey was a spirited baby to work with.  He needed his pacifier to keep happy until we ready to snap.  Works for me!  I am a go with the flow type of photographer.  Not every shot is going to be perfection, especially working with small ones.  I will constantly move myself to follow the child where i need them to be in the frame of my camera.  This is something that just comes natural to me.  Enjoy!

Lorelai Arrives Early

I was contacted by Lorelai’s mother in January about doing a birth session.  I was over the moon excited to be able capture such a special moment in someone’s life.  Her parents didn’t know whether she was a girl or boy.   They were most excited in capturing the moment of when they found out.  Sadly Lorelai came quick and I arrived about 10 minutes after she.  Most importantly thought she is healthy!  We were able to capture some great shots and moments.  Enjoy!

Meet Miss Delaney Jones

Miss Delaney decided to come into the world early.  She was ready!!  And she just slept through her entire session.  Made life easy for mom and I!  I had a blast working with her and editing her sweet face.  Look at her, how can I not love my job?  Enjoy!!

Such a sweet face!

Working with the little ones can be challenging but I wouldn’t change it!  Seeing the end result is always very exciting.  I am not sure who is more excited to see them, me or the mom!

Love me some baby feet!!

Working with babies is such a rewarding part of the job.  I can hold and snuggle with the new ones and create art for families to treasure for years to come!

Miss Julia Arrives

Julia’s mother and I worked together at a local hospital doing newborn photography.  So when she had her baby I couldn’t resist going over and getting some shots of her to model for me!  This was one of the quickest newborn shoots I have ever done.  We made this happen quick!  She was up for anything and only fussed a little.  Mostly stayed asleep, which is what you want in a newborn shoot.  Check out some of the great shots!

Brantlee Newborn Session

I saw a post that my mother’s cousin had become a grandmother again.  I messaged her that I would love to do some photos of the new little arrival.  She had been wanting to have me do some photos of someone in her family for a little while now.  This was the perfect opportunity, a baby!!  So here are some of the pics from his session.   I managed to work with him in a very tight space and get some cute shots.

Baby Brayden Comes Early

Brayden decided to make his debut 3 weeks early like his older brother, Brenden.  Mom and I were super excited on photo day and were texting back and forth talking about how much he sleeps.  Well we jinxed ourselves.  This boy didn’t sleep the ENTIRE session.  I was there for 3 hours!  I am so glad I was able to get some great shots regardless.  In the 4 years I photographed the newborns at the hospital I learned how unpredictable they can be and how each one is different and will allow different poses.  I work with what they do and allow.

How amazing are those blue eyes?

Sometimes we get stuck on wanted something in particular and being obsessed on getting “the shot”.  I try for shots and if baby wants no parts of it, I move on and get what baby wants!

Baby Jacqueline Arrives

After doing Meagan’s maternity shoot we kept in constant contact about the delivery.  I was informed of baby Jacqueline’s arrival and we started planning her shoot.  Unfortunately Mommy had a terrible infection and had to be readmitted to the hospital.  Once all that was cleared up we set our date.  I went to Mom Mom’s house where she was staying to recover and get some great help with caring for herself and her baby in her condition.  Her best friend, Beth, who purchased the gift certificate was there.

Capturing her was pretty easy as she just slept through most of it.  I couldn’t believe how she posed for us.  I am happy to share her here with all of you.

We had lots of plans for the little cutie.  Here are some samples of what we did with her.  Enjoy!

Newborn Shoot Info

This is going to be the dish about what to expect during a newborn shoot with me.  Let me start off by saying I really enjoy working with newborns.  They might be my favorite subjects!!  The best time to photograph a newborn before 10 days of age.  They are easier to pose and tolerable of the positions everyone wants.

I will come to your home so you don’t have to travel out with your new one.  It takes me about 15 minutes to set up.  I will work with you and your baby to get all the poses you would like to have of your new bundle.  From conversations we have, I will determine what type of theme and style you prefer and customize the props I bring in relationship to that.  I have over 4 years experience working with newborns at a local hospital.  I have been trained in baby safety and always provide that first.

It is also best to book your newborn session with me prior to baby’s birth.  That way you have your spot with me.  Then you can let me know when your bundle arrives and we can get you on the schedule within the week.  I find this way of scheduling works best.  I will provide all the necessary props and fun stuff to make your session special!  Please feel free to email, text or call me with any questions.
